What is a Scoliotic?

Scoliotic: A person who has scoliosis.

Why the differentiation? Why not say, “A scoliosis sufferer/victim”?

While I am against identifying someone only by their condition, I feel it’s more important to avoid using terms like “sufferer” or “victim” to identify people who have the condition of scoliosis. Seeing ourselves as suffering, or victims, only perpetuates the feeling of fear, despair and hopelessness that can so easily creep into our thoughts as people who have scoliosis.

Hence, the need for another term that avoided this negative mentality, yet is less cumbersome to write than “a person who has scoliosis” every timeĀ a person who has this condition is referred to on this site.
